founding Mat teacher
The Role
We are hiring Founding Mat Teachers to lead movement practices at Playground. We offer two formats within our Mat program: Cathartic Cardio and Somatic Strength. This is a hands-on, in-person, client-facing role for someone who is charismatic, candid, and confident in their movement instruction.
What You Will Own
You will create embodied experiences for the Playground community. In doing so, you will design effective, targeted practices in accordance with our training manual and scheduled muscle focuses. Furthermore, you will manage client relationships inside the studio with care, enthusiasm,
and professionalism.
What Success Looks Like
After successfully graduating from teacher training, you will begin leading weekly group fitness practices to the
Playground community.
Thirty days after your first Playground practice, you will demonstrate improvement across our five pillars of instruction and steward our room with confidence and competence.
Ninety days after your first class, your practices will feel imbued with your unique voice. Your students have a dedicated practice alongside your leadership and Playfulness has permeated
your teaching.
Who You Are
You are a seasoned, embodied fitness professional looking to develop your skill, voice, and leadership at Playground. You have years of diligent physical practice in your body and at least two years of fitness instruction under your belt. You lead with authenticity and candor, can make complex ideas simple, and feel called to serve our community.
Underneath the skill is a series of core beliefs that mirror Playground’s ethos. You believe that everybody, and every body, is an athlete. You believe that movement is medicine and that it has always been bigger than just fitness. To you, movement can be transformational and transcendent — you believe that the power of shared experience can set us free.
Qualifications
Two years of teaching experience across modalities, with preference for rhythm-based instruction.
Accredited certification or willingness to complete certification program alongside in-studio training.
Logistics
Compensation: Competitive, commensurate upon experience, and discussed early in the process.
Structure: Contract, 1099
Schedule: Teachers have to be available for a minimum of three practice blocks per week. Minimum teaching requirement is four practices per week.
