A note from José
Hi!
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I wrote this note to give you a clearer picture of what matters to me, and to help you decide whether Playground is right for you.
I started Playground from the bottom of my life. After ending my engagement and losing a lawsuit against an employer I imagined my whole career at, I set out to rebuild my life through movement. My healing journey focused on rebuilding trust in my intuition, claiming sovereignty over my body, and regulating my nervous system so that I could have fun again. Over the years, I came to understand that at the heart of these efforts was Play, a biological and sociological need to connect with myself and others through movement experiences.
I pursued Play to build a life of purpose, pleasure, and presence, and in doing so developed a professional philosophy to underpin my offering to the world. Play is imperative, an essential birthright, and a unifying experience across the human species. Dance floors across the globe are where I feel Play most alive, where awe and collective effervescence move through me in a way that changes me.
If you feel called to this mission, to building the World of Play, I encourage you to explore our career openings. Whether in studio, leadership, or our other ventures, your unique gifts and talents can be offered in service to the world. I look forward to reading your applications and building a team of embodied, passionate, and values-driven professionals all in pursuit of a more Playful world.
In Play,
José San Miguel
